Vaginal and cesarean births are hard, not just on mums but on your babies. The delivery/transitioning from mum's womb to the outside world is a tough job. This natural yet somewhat traumatic experience can be likely to cause fear in your babies (and you to parents!), which can effect the nervous system. So, our babies first transition into life is a feeling that they don’t know how to control, and as babies don’t have the option of fighting or fleeing, as we as adults do.
There are ways to help with lessening the trauma for your baby and that can start from pre conception, so consider what mum eats, drinks, breathes, thinks, feels and experiences goes right to the baby. SO does her stress hormones.
Forceps, vacuum, screening tests, vaccines, being taken by a midwife, formula and dummies - These are all typical for childbirth. As the birthing process is a physical and emotional response, this is where Chiropractic comes into help. As Chiropractors we work with the bodies nervous system and are likely to help settle babies nervous systems from this stress response. Along with other movement checks a Chiropractor is likely to help a newborn thrive.
A tip for you at home - whilst your baby is on you, do belly breaths. This can be likely to help calm the baby and assist with settling the nervous system (also for you mum or dad!)
